Brad Linde's DIX OUT
"There'll Be SOME Changes Made"
Bleebop Records #1912

all songs spontaneously arranged by DIX OUT

Honeysuckle Rose (Fats Waller)
Dinah (Harry Akst)
I Can't Give You Anything But Love (Jimmy McHugh)
When You're Smiling (Larry Shay, Mark Fisher, and Joe Goodwin)
Avalon ( Al Jolson, Buddy DeSylva and Vincent Rose)
I Remember When (Sidney Bechet)
Tonight You Belong To Me (Billy Rose and Lee David)
Honeysuckle Rose - "Circus Fast" (Fats Waller)
Squeeze Me (Fats Waller)

This is just one of many bands conceived of in 2014 while traveling to gigs with Deric and Aaron. I had already performed duo with Liz in an improvised setting, but with the quartet we began exploring the repertoire of trad jazz from the 1920s. Liz recommended a second frontline member and we brought Tara on trumpet and vocals. Trad jazz and the avant-garde have more in common than one immediately thinks of when comparing styles of jazz. The collective improvisation is at the center and we let our ear and imaginations take us off the road and back on. There'll be SOME changes made, but only some.

Note: Liz made suggestions for the arrangement of "I Remember When" and also the background vocals on "Tonight You Belong To Me". Tara suggested the circus fast version of "Honeysuckle Rose" and to share lead vocals with Deric on "Tonight You Belong To Me".

We would like to acknowledge Jeff Lederer and Matt Wilson as inspirations for this project, as well as Sidney Bechet. This album is dedicated to them!
