To tip is to swing. When a rhythm section is really swinging, they are tippin'. And so Team Players has created an album of our own variants on swing.

This is our 6th album and our first live concert recording. The classic quartet is joined by bassist Eric Harper (filling in for our transatlantic member, John J. Williamson) as we premiere new music inspired by billiards. Song titles are derived from glossary terms and famous practitioners. Some are on new forms, some with time/no changes, and some are reimaginings of standards (For example: Rail is a 12-tone line on Cole Porter's You Do Something To Me with a Coltrane treatment).

We close the record as we always do, with an old chestnut recorded solo by Thelonious Monk. Fittingly, we chose a standard associated with the most tippin' big band - the Count Basie Orchestra.

In 2010, he founded and began co-directing the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra - a 17-piece big band in residence at the historic club.
